Thesis statement vs topic sentence

The difference between thesis statement and topic sentence can be identified through the questions where, what and why. Where is it located? What's in it? Why is it written?

Firstly, thesis statement is located at the last sentence of the introductory paragraph while topic sentence is located at the first sentence of the body paragraph. Secondly, thesis statement is the most important part of an essay and it has three parts— the topic, the authors opinion and the reason. On the other hand, topic sentence is the most important part of a paragraph and has two part— the topic and the controlling idea. Lastly, thesis statement is written to let the readers knows about your opinion or argument about a certain topic and how you will support it with evidence and example while topic sentence informs reader about the focus of the paragraph.
